Tirzepatide (LY3298176) is a small protein (peptide) made of 39 building blocks (Amino acids). It’s based on a GIP-like structure and has a specialised fatty tail (a C20 fatty diacid) attached to it. This fatty tail helps the molecule stick to a blood protein called albumin. This keeps it in your bloodstream longer, allowing it to work effectively for once-weekly dosing. It’s a dual agonist, which means it activates two receptors at the same time (GIP Receptor, GLP-1 Receptor) to better control blood sugar and help with weight loss.
